At the end of 2013, in his native city of Jonava, the writer’s family together with the city’s municipality established the Grigory Kanovich Prize. The prize is awarded annually to 3-4-grade Jonava gymnasium students for the best essays written on the following subject: Signs of Life of the Ethnic Minorities of Jonava – Witnesses of the City’s History.
